Warner Brothers Sues Hari Puttar

Warner Brothers has sued Mumbai-based Mirchi Movies for the movie Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors, claiming they are concerned with the welfare of intellectual rights.

Mirchi Movies spokespeople claim they registered the title in 2005 and WB waited until close to their movie's premiere (September 12th) to make a fuss. They say they see no resemblance between the properties... ahem. However, Hari Puttar is about an Indian boy who moves to the UK and becomes embroiled in a plot involving a secret microchip. "Hari" is a popular name in India and "Puttar" means son.

A court in India has postponed the release of the film, due to the pending legal proceedings. It was set to hit theaters today.
