This is an Open Letter to all publishers and rights-holders from whom I am attempting to secure permission to use your licensed products in a manner befitting their capacity. I just wanted you to know that this is not a pitch, nor an attempt to secure "Official Product" licensing or branding; I only want to be able to refer to the books and games you created and released, mostly 30+ years ago, both on the cover and interior.
The games most in question include Chill 2e, Dark Conspiracy 1e, Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG (I think that's FOX), and a handful of others. This is a done deal; the webzine will be moving forward with or without permission and all of the owners and rights-holders will be indicated in the indicia, as well as beneath the articles themselves. I just didn't want to take anyone by surprise or piss them off if I can help it.
Being able to use the official logos on the covers would be optimal, but I do not want to confuse consumers. This is a fanzine done with a desktop publishing software application, featuring hand-drawn (scanned-in) artwork, and 100% original content developed specifically for these games/systems. There is more than enough already presented herein for you to see the quality (or lack thereof) of the material, although what is posted here is not what is in the magazine itself.
AFAIK, I have permission to use Champions/HERO and Evil Dead (I won't even fool with Army of Darkness; it will instead be d10 Medieval). Thank you to dba, DOJ and Bruce Taipert. I've been around a lot of people and places for an awfully long time. This may or may not extend to using their logos on the covers but, again, although that would be cool, the main purpose is in using logos and referring to "official," licensed products inside the magazine.
This is a fanzine dedicated to this work, and the only thing that might come of it is selling some old units and clearing-out a few PDF warehouses. I will also be selling ad space, in case anyone reading is interested, and can likely get around all of this by simply including affiliate links (although I don't know if I am allowed to do that). You have nothing to lose by allowing me to use the official product logos and make reference to official product. I'm here to help you move some units in a synergistic display of obrevity and Six Sigma Signatory Salutations... for the corporate-minded amongst us.
I'm trying real hard to get everyone as excited about this as I am and not break [too m]any rules, so let's see how this goes.
Thanks!
