The TV Guide Channel had a special on the Spider-Man 3 Tokyo premiere last night and I managed to watch most of it. My local cable provider has something wrong with it on some of the channels, such as TVGC and G4, where the sound and picture are different. I don't just mean they don't synch-up, I mean that the picture is one thing and the sound is something completely different. So part of the broadcast I could only hear while watching random advertisements for lawn care products and so forth.
If you get the chance to catch this special, it's pretty good. There's not a whole lot about the actual premiere, but there are copious interviews with the stars and Sam Raimi, which give a little insight into how it was made and most interestingly, how the cast gets along. The one thing I can say as to this latter bit is that all of the actors seem genuinely interested to be in the movie - more because of the characters and story than the obvious blockbuster bit. I mean, what actor wouldn't want to be part of the biggest movie franchise going right now? Still, everyone they talked to seemed genuinely excited to be part of the whole Spider-Man legacy than just involved in a big movie.
The special is being re-aired today at 1:00 PM, CST, on TVGC. Spider-Man 3's American premiere is May 4th during the Tribeca Film Festival.
