Dr. Phil Denies Ambushing Britney Spears

Dr. Phil McGraw has denied allegations that he somehow ambushed Britney Spears at the Cedars-Sinai hospital over the weekend when he showed up to speak with her prior to her early release. Spears was taken to the hospital for a 72-hour stay on a "5150" (posing a danger to herself and/or others) but was released after only 24 hours of observation.

According to witnesses and reports, the episode may have started when Kevin Federline's attorney presented the former pop-star with papers indicating that the children were supposed to be with their rapper father. Britney locked herself in a bathroom with one of the kids and refused to come out. Police were summoned to the house around 8:00 and more squad cars, a firetruck, and two ambulances arrived about two hours later. Spears was taken away in one of the ambulances, while the child was carried away in the same direction in the other. She was later denied custody or visitation of her children in yet another "emergency" hearing which she did not bother to attend.

Dr. Phil spoke to Ryan Seacrest earlier today on the latter's radio talk show and denied rumors that he "ambushed" the pop-star. He stated that Brit-Brit's mama done called him about a year ago and he has remained in contact with the family since. Dr. Phil also stated that he had planned an hour-long special, dedicated to "the very serious issues surrounding this case" but nixed the idea at this time out of consideration for Britney and her children and family.

The further this goes, the more convinced I am that our fair Brit-Brit may very well have some serious emotional problems; it's hard to tell these days, since every emotionally-retarded, wanna-be socialite thinks getting wasted and slutting-around is "hot," then blames it all on being "Bi-Polar" or drugs and alcohol once the fit hits the shan. But while Paris, Nichole, and some of the other Bad Grrlz™ are nothing more than slutty little sociopaths, Lindsay and Paris make me think there are some deep-seeded issues lurking just behind the public facade of wasted youth.
